The event was attended by the mayor, Juan Ramón Valdivia; the provincial delegate for Culture, Gabriel Duque; members of the Government team, representatives from the tourism sector, and numerous residents. The new facilities, part of the Sustainable Tourism Plan for Destinations, involved an investment of 92,000 euros for building adaptation, the incorporation of new technological resources, and the renewal of promotional material.
The mayor highlighted that the office transcends the concept of a conventional information point, aiming to become a space for promotion, collaboration, and revitalization of the tourism sector. He emphasized the growth potential of Priego de Córdoba as a destination, noting that last year approximately 30,000 people were assisted, with an estimated 90,000 visitors passing through the municipality.
Among the main innovations, the office features a welcome audiovisual room, an area for temporary exhibitions by local artists, and a permanent space to promote over twenty brands of Extra Virgin Olive Oil under the Protected Designation of Origin Priego de Córdoba. The building's ambiance will be adapted to various tourism promotion campaigns.
The new facility, covering 107.63 square meters, includes a reception area, work offices, accessible spaces, and new technological systems, such as an audio guide system for guided tours for groups of up to 210 people.
During the ceremony, the City Council also recognized the municipal Tourism technician, Lucía González, for her dedication in launching the project. Her intervention highlighted the work done to complete the project within the planned deadlines and noted that the new office will continue to evolve to meet the sector's needs.
With this initiative, the City Council provides the municipality with more modern and versatile facilities, conceived not only as a visitor information point but also as a space for destination promotion and support for the tourism development of Priego de Córdoba.
