The new facility, located in the Palenque building, aims to be an open space for associations, companies, groups, and institutions to hold meetings, workshops, and conferences. The room has a capacity for 50 attendees and is equipped with ergonomic seats with writing tablets, an integrated sound system, and audiovisual equipment.
The creation of this center was made possible by the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination of Priego de Córdoba, funded by the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan with European Next Generation EU funds. These programs aim to modernize Spanish tourist destinations through actions focused on ecological transition, energy efficiency, digitalization, and the improvement of tourism-related infrastructure and public services.
As its first event, the new center hosted the SICTED – Sustainability, Intelligence, and Tourist Quality in the Destination Ecosystem distinctions ceremony. This program, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, seeks the continuous improvement of tourist destinations by implementing best practices focused on sustainability, service quality, and collaboration between administrations and companies.
The event recognized the incorporation of eight new companies and services into the system: La Jamoteca de Morales (restoration), Quisquillosa Estudio Creativo y digital (experiences and workshops), Casa Praillo, La Tesela, María Luisa Home, La Casa de Tente, and Casa Rural La Ermita (accommodations), and Tafetán Visitas Guiadas by Jezabel Ramírez Soriano (guided tours and services).
Additionally, companies and services that have renewed their commitment were recognized, including the Priego de Córdoba Tourist Office, the Niceto Alcalá-Zamora Museum, and the Hospedería San Francisco, among other establishments and tourist services.
The mayor, Juan Ramón Valdivia Rosa, addressed the queries and proposals from sector professionals during a networking session following the award ceremony.
With this inauguration and the award ceremony, the City Council of Priego de Córdoba strengthens its strategic lines of infrastructure improvement and consolidation of a destination committed to sustainability, innovation, and quality, within the framework of the European Next Generation EU funds.
