The delegate for Education of the Junta in Córdoba, Diego Copé, accompanied by the mayor of Cabra, Fernando Priego, visited the educational center to oversee the works. The project, part of the Educational Infrastructure Plan 2020-2027, aims to resolve leaks in the main building.
Diego Copé emphasized the Andalusian Government's commitment to "act quickly to mitigate the damage caused by the storm." The intense downpours affected several schools in the Subbética region, and the Junta de Andalucía pledged to resolve these issues to ensure normal teaching activities.
The works involve renovating the main building's roof, replacing the entire waterproofing membrane over approximately 1,600 square meters, and incorporating improvements to the building's thermal insulation. Completion is expected by the end of September.
Copé congratulated the institute's teaching and management staff and thanked the Ayuntamiento de Cabra for their institutional collaboration, highlighting that inter-administrative coordination enhances public services.
This intervention is part of an ongoing strategy to improve public educational infrastructure. Since 2019, the Junta de Andalucía has invested over €2.2 million in educational infrastructure in Cabra, a figure expected to exceed three million with committed projects.
Among other investments, over €200,000 is planned for the CEIP Juan Valera for roof waterproofing, and more than €400,000 for an adiabatic cooling system at the CEIP Andrés de Cervantes. The IES Felipe Solís has already received over €90,000 for improvements including window and air conditioning unit replacements.
Diego Copé reiterated the Andalusian Government's commitment to public education and ongoing collaboration with local councils to improve educational facilities and provide the best possible conditions for the entire educational community.
