The town of Fuente-Tójar, located in the Subbética region, intensely celebrated its main day of the Royal Fair in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of the municipality. The day was marked by devotion and the prominence of the traditional San Isidro dancers, a unique folkloric manifestation declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC).
Events began at midday with a solemn religious service at the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, bringing together residents, authorities, and visitors. The festivities were complemented by an atmosphere of music and animation in the streets.
In the afternoon, the procession of San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza paraded through the streets, accompanied by eight dancers. This ancestral tradition, with roots in the Middle Ages, is characterized by its dances performed before the patron saint, to the sound of tambourines, castanets, guitar, and violin. The dancers, adorned with hats decorated with paper flowers and colorful ribbons, presented a vibrant and emotional spectacle that attracts numerous visitors.
The festive program, designed by the Town Council of Fuente-Tójar, will continue until Sunday, May 17th, with cultural, sports, children's, and social activities at the Municipal Booth and the fairgrounds.
