The expansion, inaugurated this Monday by the first vice-president of the Junta de Andalucía and Minister of Presidency, Health, and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, involved an investment exceeding 5.5 million euros. The new facilities house 16 external consultation rooms and six examination rooms for various medical specialties, as well as a new laboratory and extraction area.
The total investment amounts to 5.63 million euros, partly financed by European React-Feder funds for construction and Junta's own funds for equipment. The expansion also led to the incorporation of specialists in Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine, along with nursing staff, health technicians, administrative assistants, and orderlies.
Antonio Sanz highlighted that this action adapts the hospital to the current and future needs of a population of over 62,000 inhabitants from Montilla, Aguilar de la Frontera, Fernán Núñez, Montalbán, Montemayor, and La Rambla. He also emphasized technological modernization with new surgical microscopes and diagnostic equipment.
According to data provided by the Junta, the Hospital de Montilla handled over 86,000 external consultations in 2025, performed 3,865 surgical interventions, and registered more than 51,000 emergencies.
