The Urban Planning and Environment departments of the council have announced pest control, disinfestation, disinfection, and legionella control operations. These actions have taken place in locations such as the Plaza de Abastos (Market Square) and in the vicinity of streets including Blas Infante, Reina Sofía, Rafael Alberti, Sissia, Villafranca, Reyes Católicos, Juan Parejo, the area around the MOPU blocks, the Ronda de Ferrocarril, and the Grupos Escolares (School Groups).
Furthermore, a call has been made to citizens to encourage the correct use of litter bins, containers, and the Punto Limpio (Waste Disposal Center). Operators have detected numerous wet wipes inside the sewers, causing blockages and contributing to pest outbreaks. These operations, carried out periodically by the company Actúa Pest Control, aim to prevent the proliferation of rodents and other pests.
Residents are reminded of the importance of using litter bins, depositing waste in containers after 8:00 PM, reporting abandoned properties, not feeding animals in public areas, and properly managing waste. They are urged to keep containers closed and avoid discarding trash outside designated points, as this incurs cleaning costs and creates pest problems.
Additionally, it is advised to prevent water retention points in homes and patios, and to seek specialized help if signs of rodents or cockroaches are detected. For any notices or communications, citizens can contact the Urban Planning department at 654 792 731 or through the «Villa del Río Informa» application.
