The 29th edition of the 'Music and Nature' Summer Courses is being held this year at the Cortijo de Frías, consolidating itself as one of the most veteran and prestigious musical training initiatives on the national scene. Organized by the association ‘Música entre Olivos’, with the collaboration of the Cabra City Council, the Provincial Council of Córdoba, and other entities, the courses will run throughout the month of August.
The mayor of Cabra, Fernando Priego, highlighted that the city has been hosting this event for 29 years, positioning it as a national benchmark. Throughout August, three 10-day courses will be offered: Orchestra, Chamber Music, and Piano and Strings, bringing together hundreds of young people from all over Spain.
Priego also emphasized the activity's impact on Cabra, attracting visitors and families who discover the local heritage and gastronomy. He thanked the collaboration of the Cortijo de Frías and its team, enabling top-level musical training and a shared experience in a privileged natural environment.
José Luis Arrabal, director of the Piano and Strings course, recalled that the courses began in 1998, driven by the faculty of the Cabra Conservatory of Music and the AMPA ‘Isaac Albéniz’, becoming a benchmark for summer musical training in the country.
This year, 334 applications were received for the 240 available places, for students aged between 8 and 16 years old, necessitating a waiting list once again. Registrations fill up quickly, with participants from all Andalusian provinces and other regions such as Madrid, Extremadura, Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Galicia, Comunidad Valenciana, Baleares, Ceuta, and Melilla.
The teaching staff comprises 31 specialized professors, noted for their high artistic and pedagogical level.
The closing concerts, with free admission, will take place at the ‘El Jardinito’ Theater on August 10, 20, and 30, showcasing the students' work and enhancing Cabra's summer cultural program.
