The Services to Citizenship Union of CCOO of Córdoba has issued a statement denouncing the situation of an employee at the municipal pool in Carcabuey. According to the union, the town's mayor, Juan Miguel Sánchez Cabezuelo, sent a formal request to the employee, imposing a series of technical, operational, and cleaning tasks that CCOO deems "absolutely unmanageable for a single person within the specified timeframe."
CCOO expresses its "discomfort, rejection, and indignation" regarding the mayor's attitude, who, the union claims, is threatening the worker with a "disciplinary file" if the demands are not met, despite it being "totally impossible" to complete them within the required time.
The accusation extends to the mayor's alleged "despotic and authoritarian" behavior. CCOO reports that the mayor allegedly conducted individual visits to municipal workers early in the morning with the aim of "intimidating the staff" and deterring a planned concentration outside the municipal pool. Despite explicit warnings of potential "labor reprisals," workers gathered during their breakfast break to protest the "climate of fear" and "support their colleague."

The union's legal services are investigating whether the official request constitutes workplace harassment. While the mayor has attempted to downplay the incident, stating the request merely aimed to "specify and recall the duties and responsibilities" of the position, CCOO maintains that the document explicitly details "tasks and deadlines that must be met" before the pool's opening, not during its operational period as he now suggests.
Labor relations at the Carcabuey Town Hall have reportedly deteriorated following the replacement of the personnel delegate, who was elected by 90% of the municipal staff and whose choice is "not to the mayor's liking." CCOO alleges the mayor is attempting to impose another worker from a minority union, providing her with personal and professional information about employees that is being withheld from the CCOO delegate, and forcing her attendance at negotiation meetings to which she is not entitled. These actions, the union warns, will be reported to the relevant labor authorities.
