The event, organized by the Cabra Running Club and part of the provincial race circuit of the Diputación de Córdoba, combines athletic effort with the appeal of its route and the arrival at the Sanctuary of the Patron Saint. The Delegate for Sports of the Cabra City Council, Francisco Casas, highlighted the consolidation of this event, describing it as "a demanding race due to its continuous ascent," but one that attracts athletes year after year due to its difficulty, the landscapes it traverses, and its final destination.
Casas thanked the club and collaborating entities for their work, emphasizing the months of planning, permits, and fundraising required to organize an activity that crosses roads and natural park areas. For his part, the president of the Cabra Running Club, David Cañete, encouraged the citizens of Cabra to participate, reminding those who may not feel prepared for the race that they can opt for the hiking modality.
The hiking option will start from the Monteoliva cooperative, with a traditional miller's breakfast before beginning the route to the Sanctuary. The race, starting from Cabra, combines sections of asphalt and dirt paths in an ascent that culminates at the Picacho, offering views of the natural surroundings.
Registrations can be completed through the Andalusian Athletics Federation, via a link provided by the organization. The club will also offer assistance with the registration process and will accept entries on the day of the event if places are still available.
To commemorate this fortieth edition, Francisco José Pavón has prepared a commemorative exhibition that can be visited from October 24th to 31st in the exhibition hall of the chapel of the old Asylum. The exhibition will feature photographs, old posters, and other items related to the history of the race.
