The President of the Provincial Council, Javier Fernández, highlighted that the province of Sevilla boasts digital connectivity and fiber optic network deployment similar to or exceeding that of major European metropolises. This has been achieved through significant investment, ensuring that 95.8% of the population has access to high-speed networks, doubling the European rural average of 48%.
Fernández emphasized the importance of digital connection for territorial cohesion and population retention, particularly in small municipalities. He noted that good internet access is crucial, sometimes even more so than roads or certain public services, for citizens to choose to live in towns like Las Navas de la Concepción.
According to data from Prodetur, an instrumental company of the Provincial Council of Sevilla, in 2025, 84.54% of households in the province had electronic devices, and almost all (97.44%) had broadband connection. The mobile phone has consolidated as the primary connection device (95.55%), followed by computers (50.36%).
The Provincial Council has promoted projects such as the improvement of the Tarsis network, with an investment of nearly 10 million euros, and the Tourism Intelligence Platform, funded by the European Union, which aims to digitize 1,000 tourist resources in 15 Sevillian municipalities.
Furthermore, the Digitalízate project, also funded by Next Generation EU funds, has trained individuals over 65, women, and youth in digital skills. Two other projects by Inpro, the Provincial Informatics Society, total 560,000 euros to optimize connectivity in the Osuna area and create a tourism gamification web platform in the Estepa region.
