The Fortaleza de la Mota will be the setting for the 2026 edition of 'Veladas en la Frontera', a tourist and cultural event scheduled for the evenings in August. The initiative, organized by the Tourism department of the City Council, aims to highlight the monumental heritage, gastronomy, and zero-kilometer products of Alcalá la Real.
According to the Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Juan Manuel Marchal, this event is consolidating its place in the municipality's summer programming. Throughout the Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays of August (except for the 13th, 14th, and 15th), the fortress will extend its usual hours, remaining open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
The gastronomic experiences will commence from 8:00 PM onwards, featuring local companies such as Vinos Campoameno, Bodegas Marcelino Serrano, Quesos Sierra Sur, Esencia Andalusí, Alcalá Oliva, and Embutidos Casa Montañés.
The activities will kick off on July 30th and continue until August 27th, with various combinations of participating companies. For instance, on August 6th, Esencia Andalusí and Embutidos Casa Montañés will present their offerings, while August 22nd will feature Bodegas Marcelino Serrano and Quesos Sierra Sur. The closing day, August 27th, will include two sessions by Alcalá Oliva.
The cost for these activities will start at €12 and will include both the tasting and the entrance to the Fortaleza de la Mota. Visitors can tour the monument on the day of the activity or the following day, encouraging longer stays in the city.
Councilor Marchal expressed his gratitude for the entrepreneurs' involvement, emphasizing that 'our businessmen and our tourist products are another element for promoting the city,' in addition to events and monumental heritage.
