For two consecutive days, the Las Candelarias neighborhood has suffered power outages. The first outage, yesterday, lasted over five hours on one of the hottest days of the year. Today, Sunday, September 6, the situation has recurred in the same area, with the blackout extending for more than ten hours.
The Mayor has expressed his despair at ENDESA's response, describing it as a "smokescreen" and "impunity" due to the lack of agility in resolving incidents. Both the mayor and council members of the municipal government have used all available means, including calls to 112 and the fire department, to alert about the health emergency caused by the lack of power, without the company demonstrating efficiency.
According to ENDESA, the cause of the fault in Las Candelarias appears to be a "poorly maintained wiring" which, upon contact with water during yesterday's rain, caused various connections to burn out.
The Mayor considers ENDESA's response to this situation to be "absolutely insufficient." He stated that families, electro-dependent individuals, children, the elderly, and the general population have been forced to endure high temperatures, potential product losses, and the lack of power for medical equipment and other essential processes.
In light of this problem, the Town Hall will present a formal complaint tomorrow to ENDESA and the Andalusian Ombudsman on behalf of the affected residents. The electricity company is urged to provide immediate solutions, renew deficient installations, and guarantee a definitive repair to prevent future occurrences.
