The Asturian duo, representing TRS Racing Team and Recalvi, has managed to establish a considerable advantage over their main rivals. In the overall standings, they are ahead of teams such as Iván Ares and Borja Rozada, competing with Toyota, and Álvaro Muñiz and Manuel Estévez, also driving a Skoda.
During the second loop of the day, which included the 20.9-kilometer timed section of Obejo - Villanueva de Córdoba, the leader maintained a consistent pace, aiming to extend his lead. This effort focused on securing his prime position before tackling the longest section of the rally, Pozoblanco-Villaharta, spanning 26.10 kilometers.

The first stage concluded with the Espiel section, 4.7 kilometers long, where Muñiz achieved the best time, adding another scratch for Skoda. Despite this result, Suárez remains at the top of the standings, followed by Muñiz and Ares. Other notable drivers in the Top 10 include former European champion Giandomenico Basso, Teemu Suninen, Jorge Cagiao and Andrea Mabellini, as well as Jakub Matulka, William Creighton, and Dominik Striteský.
For Sunday's stage, the participating teams will face three additional sections, to be run twice: Obejo, Villaviciosa, and Villanueva del Rey. These sections will add nearly 100 timed kilometers, completing the 203.8 kilometers of this 43rd edition of the rally, an event that projects the image of Córdoba and Andalusia to over 180 countries.
