The Territorial Delegate for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, has toured various Active Participation Centers across the province to mark the celebration of the May Crosses. The purpose of these visits was to observe firsthand the work carried out by the users, who dedicated their time to creating altars and compositions linked to this deeply rooted tradition.
The initiative involved a total of thirteen centers spread throughout the provincial territory, from the Sierra Sur to the Comarca Norte. Participating municipalities include Úbeda, Linares, Bailén, Martos, and the capital, Jaén, demonstrating the broad involvement of the senior community in this festivity.
The displayed crosses were crafted using a wide variety of techniques and materials. In some centers, such as Valdepeñas de Jaén, Alcaudete, Alcalá la Real, Bailén, Jódar, or Orcera, crocheted flowers made in specific workshops were used. Others opted for recycled materials, such as newspaper in Linares or tissue paper in Villacarrillo. Unique proposals, like the cross made with bread in Úbeda, also stood out.
These activities reflect the collaborative spirit and dedication of the centers' users, who have invested effort and creativity in both the preparation of decorative elements and the organization of the various activities accompanying this spring celebration.
