One of the injured individuals suffered burns while attempting to extinguish the flames themselves, while a forest firefighter sustained trauma from a fall, as reported by the Andalusian Emergency Agency (EMA).
The firefighting operation involves 22 aerial units. Operational emergency phase 1 of the Andalusian Infoca anti-fire plan was activated at 13:41, and an Es-Alert message was sent to mobile phones in the affected area, in both Spanish and English.
The preventive confinement also included scattered dwellings in the northern and western zones, as well as the La Coja urbanization. According to the Technical Unit for Fire Analysis (UTAF) of EMA Infoca, the fire's spread is very rapid, influenced by the easterly wind and the terrain's slope.
Efforts are focused on controlling the right flank's front, while monitoring the left flank for potential advancement towards Montemayor, an area with a higher fuel load. Work is also ongoing at the fire's tail to prevent re-ignitions.
Winds are reaching 30 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 50, and no significant changes in direction or intensity are expected. The fight against the flames involves 11 aircraft and 11 helicopters, in addition to 105 forest firefighters.
The fire, which started in the Ermita del Rosario area around 13:00 on Sunday, has also mobilized four reinforcement brigades (Brica), three fire engines, two bulldozer machines, six operations technicians, two extinction technicians, two environmental agents, and specialized units such as drones (Usisem) and a medical unit.
The confinement message was issued due to the fire's progression, advising residents to shelter in masonry homes or buildings, close doors and windows, and follow instructions from emergency services.
The Minister of Presidency, Health, and Emergencies of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Sanz, activated the emergency phase and visited the advanced command post to coordinate actions and ensure public safety.
The A-7175 road was affected by the fire, with its right lane closed in the growing direction to facilitate emergency vehicle access. The area was advised to be avoided.
Personnel from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of Málaga, along with teams from Marbella and Fuengirola, are working to protect nearby urbanizations. The 1-1-2 service received numerous calls reporting the fire, which was also visible from Marbella.
Operational emergency phase 1 is activated when a fire requires extraordinary resources or population protection measures, even if it could be controlled with ordinary means.
