The Local Security Board of Linares has coordinated an extensive operation to ensure public order during the upcoming 2026 San Agustín Fair. The meeting, chaired by Mayor Auxi del Olmo, included the participation of the acting Government Sub-delegate in Jaén, Pedro Carlos Garrido, and the Delegate of the Junta de Andalucía, Erik Domínguez, along with security and emergency officials.
The municipal operation includes a specific Traffic and Security Plan for the festivities, featuring a daily Emergency Coordination Center (CECOP) at the fairgrounds. The Fire Department will maintain a security detail and a protocol for pyrotechnic events, while Civil Protection will cover large-scale events like the parade and concerts.
On behalf of the state administration, a coordinated operation with the Local Police will be implemented to guarantee public order and ensure rapid response to any eventuality. The National Police will increase its presence during nighttime hours and peak attendance times, supported by the Operational Response Group (GOR), the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), five additional officers, and the Cavalry Unit for bullfighting events.
The Civil Guard will intensify speed and alcohol breathalyzer checks on access roads to the city, as well as monitor urbanizations and peripheral areas for theft prevention. The Autonomous Community Police Unit and private security personnel will also integrate into the collaborative efforts. A call has been made to citizens to enjoy the fair responsibly and with civic-mindedness.
