The celebrations in Linares will kick off this Thursday, April 23, with an uninterrupted reading of the masterpiece of Spanish literature, Don Quixote, which will take place in the main hall of the Municipal Public Library. This event marks the beginning of a series of activities designed to promote reading and culture in the town.
Subsequently, Paseo de Linarejos will host the traditional 2026 Book Fair, running from May 6 to 12. During these days, visitors can explore the 15 stalls set up, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 20:00, enjoying a wide range of literary offerings.
The program, presented by the councilor-delegate of Culture and the director of the Municipal Public Library, along with a representative from the bookselling sector, includes book presentations by local authors and nationally renowned writers, such as Luz Gabás, who will participate in the UNED Literature Classroom. Additionally, school and association visits to the fair, concerts, theatrical performances, children's entertainment, and other cultural initiatives like a literary street party and a day of free artistic and musical expression have been organized.
“"This year's program will offer a series of participatory activities for all audiences and tastes."
Among the additional activities are the ‘Yo leí’ initiative, promoted by the Asociación Promoción Social 28 de Febrero; the book planting by the Grupo Motero Linares; and a solidarity campaign for exchanging books for non-perishable food items, in collaboration with Cáritas, which will take place at the Municipal Public Library.
