The Department of Culture of the Baza City Council, in collaboration with the Baza Photography Collective (COBAF), has launched the call for the nineteenth edition of the 'Feria de Baza' Photography Contest. The full terms and conditions are available on the municipal website's Notice Board.
The contest aims to promote the Festival of International Tourist Interest, the city's Fair and Festivals, and the image of the Virgen de la Piedad, the patron saint in whose honor this festive cycle takes place. It also seeks to highlight the city of Baza itself and its cultural characteristics.
The competition is divided into three sections: A, dedicated to “Cascamorras”; B, focusing on the “Feria de Baza”; and C, featuring the “Virgen de la Piedad”. Photographers can submit their entries until September 25th by emailing [areacultura@ayuntamientodebaza.es](mailto:areacultura@ayuntamientodebaza.es).
The jury will consist of members of the Cultural Information Commission, assisted by two representatives from COBAF. Prizes will be awarded: 200 euros for the first place, 150 euros for the second, and 50 euros for the third in each of the three categories.
As a prelude, on September 1st, an exhibition of photographs from the previous edition of the contest was inaugurated. During this event, the Councillor for Culture, José Gabriel López, presented the awards for the 2025 edition. The exhibition can be visited in the courtyard of the Municipal Archaeological Museum during its regular opening hours.
