The Jabalcuz Children's School in La Carolina has debuted its renovated and expanded facilities this academic year following the completion of works promoted by the Regional Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training. The project, carried out by Proimancha Ingeniería y Construcción, S.L., involved an investment of 345,602.62 euros.
The renovations have expanded the existing building, adding two new units for children aged 2 to 3 years. A new classroom with a capacity for 20 students has been constructed, connected to the main building, featuring a children's restroom and an adjacent outdoor classroom.
The intervention also included the reorganization of the outdoor area, with new paving and the installation of shaded zones using awnings. Dedicated children's play areas have been preserved, and repairs have been made to the perimeter wall.
Furthermore, a new children's restroom facility has been built next to the multipurpose room, and covered play areas in the rear courtyard have been refurbished, enhancing protection against humidity and improving thermal insulation.
These works are part of the Educational Infrastructure Plan of the Junta de Andalucía and received European funding through the NextGenerationEU program, under the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
The territorial delegate for Educational Development in Jaén, Francisco José Solano, accompanied by the mayor of La Carolina, Cristóbal Pérez, and the school's director, María Carmen Sabio, visited the facilities to inspect the outcomes.
Solano noted that starting next academic year, socio-educational services will be free for 1 and 2-year-old places in regional children's schools and centers participating in the Family Aid Program. An annual saving of over 2,640 euros for families is anticipated for the 1 and 2-year-old age groups from the 2026-2027 academic year.
Since 2019, the Junta has allocated over 3.3 million euros to educational centers in La Carolina, including improvements to thermal comfort and the quality of teaching spaces.
