Linares Deportivo has confirmed the departure of one of its key players for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Forward Diego Talaverón, who shared the title of the team's top scorer last season with Harper, will not continue with the club after his contract concludes.
Talaverón, originally from Almería, has been a crucial part of the Linares team's attack during his tenure. He played 2,004 minutes in 29 matches last season, starting 26 of them. He was the fourth most-used player and scored seven goals, matching Harper's tally.
The attacker arrived at Linarejos in the winter transfer window of the 2024-25 season. After an initial adaptation period with one goal in 13 games, his performance has seen exponential growth, establishing him as a fan favorite and attracting interest from other clubs in the Segunda Federación.
“"I want to thank you for the opportunity to defend these colors that have given me so much. I leave with a clear conscience, having defended and fought for this crest until the last day."
In his farewell message on social media, Talaverón expressed his gratitude to the club and the fans: "I am grateful for all the wonderful people I have met in Linares, who have become family." He added that he leaves with the experience of having learned and grown in the city, always carrying the stadium in his heart.
The player concluded his message by expressing sadness at leaving behind something he loves, but also pride and gratitude for his experiences, calling his departure a "see you later" and assuring that "I will always carry this club in my heart."
