This top-tier competition will take place in the Siete Pilillas area from May 11 to 22, marking a significant milestone as it is the first time it will be held in Spain and the second in Europe. Prior to this, from May 5 to 9, the municipality will also host the Niviuk Open, serving as a prelude to the grand final.
During the event's presentation, a spokesperson for the Provincial Council of Jaén emphasized the importance of hosting such a major competition, considering it one of the most significant of the year. They highlighted that the choice of Pegalajar is not coincidental but rather the result of continuous effort that has positioned the province as a benchmark in air sports.
“"For our province, it is a true luxury and a great satisfaction to host this major paragliding event, probably the most important of those held throughout the year, because it brings together the 130 best pilots in the world."
The province of Jaén, with locations such as Pegalajar and Segura de la Sierra, has been the venue for numerous high-level championships and events, including five Spanish Championships, five national leagues, one World Cup, and one European Championship. A spokesperson for the Pegalajar City Council expressed satisfaction with the local flight center's ability to attract pilots year-round and host national and international championships.
The Superfinal celebration will be accompanied by an extensive program of parallel activities, including a hot air balloon ride, a parachute display by the Air Force, the presence of the Civil Guard rescue helicopter, flamenco workshops, and gastronomic events featuring local chefs.
“"The most important individual event in the world."
