The municipal tourist facilities located in the Navalcán area, in Noalejo, are now ready to welcome travelers. The refurbishment of these eleven cabins, ten for accommodation and one for common areas, was made possible by the Sierra Mágina Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD), managed by the Provincial Council of Jaén and funded by NextGeneration funds.
The total investment exceeded 117,000 euros. The president of the Provincial Council of Jaén, Juan Latorre, visited the municipality with the mayor, Antonio Morales, to see the completed project. Latorre highlighted the beauty of the area, situated within the Sierra Mágina Natural Park, and praised the mayor's initiative to promote quality tourism and create employment.
The complex features complete equipment in the cabins, including furniture, appliances, and air conditioning and security systems. Additionally, an efficient electrical system with solar panels has been installed for the complex's energy self-sufficiency.
Within the same plan, the Navalcán recreational area has received improvements, such as picnic areas, a pergola, and support services for cycle tourism, including bike racks, repair stations, and washing facilities. These actions complement those carried out by the Noalejo City Council.
The Sierra Mágina PSTD has invested 3 million euros across 16 municipalities within the natural park to establish the region as a leading destination for adventure and sports tourism. Similar interventions have been carried out in other locations such as the hostels in Cabritas, Jimena, and Larva, Prados Bajos in Campillo de Arenas, and the Casa de la Pradera in Cabra del Santo Cristo.
The plan has also promoted the improvement of museums and interpretation centers, such as Caras de Bélmez and Paleomágina, and the creation of nature classrooms. Active tourism infrastructures have been developed, including the Vía Ferrata of Bedmar and the Torres footbridge.
