These initiatives, part of the Sierra Mágina Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan, represent an investment of over three million euros, funded by Next Generation EU funds from the Spanish Government's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
One of the projects involves the construction of a motorhome parking area in Bedmar's livestock industrial estate, with a budget exceeding 57,000 euros. Work has included preparing the esplanade, which now features 24 leveled and paved parking spaces. To integrate the area into its natural surroundings, fifty trees and 300 shrubs have been planted.
Currently, curb installation is underway, and soon a potable water connection and new LED lighting system will be installed. This infrastructure aims to meet the growing demand from the motorhome sector, a rapidly expanding tourism segment both in the province of Jaén and nationally, making such facilities increasingly essential for rural and nature tourism destinations.
“"This infrastructure will serve a sector like motorhomes in the Sierra Mágina Natural Park, which is growing exponentially both in the province of Jaén and nationally, making these types of facilities an increasingly urgent necessity for rural and nature tourism destinations."
The second project is the rehabilitation of the La Acequia trail, a nearly 400-meter route located in the Adelfal area, next to the Cuadros River, with an investment exceeding 122,000 euros. Work has included clearing and cleaning the trail, installing steps in steeper sections, and placing wooden barriers.
Currently, existing walkways are being reinforced, and metallic safety railings are being installed, which will ensure greater accessibility and safety for hikers using this route. With these improvements, Bedmar and Sierra Mágina strengthen their position as an attractive destination for nature and adventure tourism, leveraging European funds to enhance infrastructure that will benefit the tourist experience and the local economy.
