Agents from the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Jaén Command have initiated proceedings against two men, residents of Orcera and Cortijos Nuevos, aged 20 and 22, for their alleged involvement in a crime against wild flora and fauna, as well as illegal possession of weapons.
The operation took place during a nocturnal surveillance service in the Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, an area where the Civil Guard maintains permanent anti-poaching operations. The agents caught the investigated individuals engaged in poaching during a closed season.
This period is particularly sensitive for wildlife, as numerous species are in their breeding and reproduction phases. The incident occurred in the area known as El Contadero, within the municipality of Segura de la Sierra.
Following the identification of the individuals, the agents seized a modified air rifle converted into a .22LR caliber rifled firearm. The weapon was equipped with an attached day scope, and various ammunition and a thermal monocular were also confiscated.
The proceedings have been submitted to the competent judicial authority for resolution.
