Between May 9 and 10, this competition, celebrating its 26th edition, will test the endurance of thousands of athletes along a route that includes towns such as Ronda, Arriate, Alcalá del Valle, Setenil de las Bodegas, Montejaque, and Benaoján. The organization, led by the Tercio Alejandro Farnesio, 4th Legion, has emphasized the “military operation” nature of the event, focused on ensuring participant safety.
“"This event is a benchmark in the calendar for the provinces of Málaga and Cádiz. Many athletics, cycling, and general sports enthusiasts are eager to run this race."
The event's popularity is reflected in the rapid sell-out of available spots for the four modalities: individual march, team march, MTB (mountain bikes), and children's races. Beyond the sporting challenge, the competition represents a significant economic boost for the municipalities of Sierra de Cádiz and Ronda, promoting tourism and local activity.
This year, the organization faces several challenges, including a concurrent military operation in Slovakia and the condition of roads affected by storms, which may require minor route adjustments to ensure safety. One of the most exciting novelties is the expansion of children's races, which will be held in all towns along the route, facilitating the participation of youngsters and promoting sports.
The security and support operation will involve 900 legionnaires, drones for route surveillance, and the collaboration of the Guardia Civil, National Police, Local Police forces, Red Cross, and Civil Protection. 10 stabilization cells, 3 aid stations, and 20 refreshment points will be established to guarantee the health and well-being of participants during the 24-hour duration of the event.
