The Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality granted a special mention to the families of Ronda for their exemplary hospitality towards the inhabitants of Grazalema, who were forced to evacuate their homes due to torrential rains. This act of mutual support was a central theme of the awards ceremony.
The event, held at the CaixaForum in Seville, also honored the Málaga-based association 'Yo No Renuncio' with the Honorary Award. This entity was recognized for its strong commitment to work-life balance and co-responsibility, serving as a benchmark in social mobilization and the defense of family rights.
“"Andalusia has immense wealth, and one of its greatest potentials lies in its families. Family diversity, from single-parent families to large families or LGTBI families, all are equally important and necessary to build a stronger and more cohesive society."
During the ceremony, the minister emphasized the importance of family as a fundamental pillar of Andalusian society, noting that its value does not lie in the number of members, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs, but in the values and essence of those who comprise it. She called for valuing and recognizing the daily contributions of families.
In addition to the recognitions for Ronda and 'Yo No Renuncio', awards were given in various categories, such as 'Families and solidarity' to the Asociación en Familia Por Derecho de Almería, 'Families and entities that promote work-life balance and co-responsibility' to the Order of San Juan de Dios, and 'Large families' to the Gómez Reina family from Alcalá de Guadaíra. Other awards included 'Families with art' for Cantería Aguilera de Dios from Porcuna, 'Families and diversity' for CEIP Prácticas Número 1 from Málaga, and 'Single-parent families' for a representative from Seville.
The Municipal School of Music and Dance of Priego de Córdoba was awarded in the 'Families and school' category, while the Besafe research team from the University of Seville received the award in 'Families and research'. Finally, the City Council of Granada was recognized in the 'Families and family-responsible local entities' category for its family support policies.
