The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated heat warnings across all of Andalusia. In the province of Cádiz, an orange alert will be in effect for the Sierra region, particularly in the Grazalema area, where temperatures are expected to surpass 40 degrees Celsius. This alert will affect municipalities including Alcalá del Valle, Algodonales, Benaocaz, El Bosque, El Gastor, Grazalema, Jimena, Olvera, Prado del Rey, Puerto Serrano, Setenil, Torre Alháquime, Ubrique, Villaluenga, and Zahara de la Sierra.
The alert will be active from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM this Wednesday and will be reactivated on Thursday during the same hours. The localities expected to record the highest temperatures are Puerto Serrano and Jimena, with forecasts of 41 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. They will be closely followed by Algodonales, Espera, Torre Alháquime, Ubrique, and Villamartín, with highs of 40 degrees Celsius.
In contrast, the Cadiz coast will remain below 30 degrees Celsius, with no special warning. There is also no alert in the Jerez countryside, although temperatures are expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius in Jerez, 39 in Arcos, and Alcalá de los Gazules.
The peak of this heat episode is expected between this Wednesday, the 22nd, and Thursday, the 23rd. By Friday the 24th, a cooler air mass is anticipated to enter from the northwest of the peninsula, initiating a general thermal decrease, which could mark the end of the heatwave episode. However, temperatures may remain high in areas of the southeastern quadrant and the middle and upper Guadalquivir.
