The President of the Provincial Council of Cádiz, Almudena Martínez, accompanied by the local mayor, Rafael Aguilera, and technical staff, has overseen the progress of the works aimed at restoring the damage the road sustained due to the winter storm. These efforts, anticipated to last four months, aim to provide "definitive solutions".
The most significant intervention addresses an "enormous asphalt subsidence" on the CA-9107, known as the Lora road. The investment for this project exceeds one million euros, according to the provincial president, who described the sinkhole as the "most striking" damage recorded in the province.
In addition to the main sinkhole, work is underway on another section of the same road, between kilometer markers 3 and 3.2. This second phase, awarded to Manuel Alba SA, represents an additional investment of 939,672.38 euros by the Provincial Council.
Mayor Rafael Aguilera emphasized the importance of these repairs for the development and prosperity of Alcalá del Valle, highlighting that communication is "life" for the export of local products such as asparagus and olive oil.
The Provincial Council has stressed that the investment effort in the provincial road network for 2026 is "unprecedented," allocating over 22 million euros to urgent works resulting from the storm, plus another ten million for general maintenance, bringing the total investment to over 32 million euros.
The detailed works include slope stabilization through rubble fill and slope reshaping, as well as the placement of selected materials and reinforcement geogrids. In the section from kilometer 3 to 3.2, the slope will be profiled and protected with three-dimensional geocells to prevent erosion.
