The leader of the PP of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, did not secure the required 55 seats to be invested president in the first vote, falling short by two votes of an absolute majority. The conservative candidate received 53 votes in favor, while the PSOE, Adelante Andalucía, and Por Andalucía voted against.
Vox, whose spokesperson Manuel Gavira expressed a firm 'no' at the start of the vote, also voted against the PP's proposal. The vote will be repeated in 48 hours, this Thursday at 7:00 PM, where a simple majority will suffice for investiture.
In his speech, Moreno expressed his hope to reach an agreement with Vox within the next 48 hours to begin the legislative term and avoid a deadlock that could lead to repeated elections. This situation is reminiscent of the 2019 agreement between the PP, Ciudadanos, and the parliamentary support of Vox, which allowed Moreno's investiture in the first vote without Santiago Abascal's party joining the executive.
