The Grazalema Town Council has reported that the municipality, which was affected by winter storms that led to the evacuation of the entire population, has seen high tourist demand during this period. Data collected by Turismo Grazalema-Benamahona indicates that visitors are predominantly national, with some international tourists also present in consulted accommodations.
In Benamahoma, the trend is similar, with a prevalence of national tourism and a slight international presence. Hiking routes and gastronomy remain the main attractions for visitors, according to information received at the Tourist Office.
This recovery follows protests last week regarding the precarious state of the Sierra's roads, which had left Benamahoma isolated for weeks and minimized access to Grazalema for three months. The situation has improved with the opening of an alternative lane on the El Boyar road and the inauguration of the new Tinte bridge, crucial for bus traffic.
Concurrently, the municipality hosted the 'Saborea el campo' agri-food fair, organized by Asaja with the support of the Provincial Council. This event, held in the Plaza de España, featured 19 stands offering local products such as cheeses, cured meats, Iberian products, oils, and jams, aiming to revitalize the primary sector and local economy.
The 'Saborea el campo' fair was not the only initiative to promote the town. Grazalema also served as the setting for the filming of the 'La Noche Romántica' video, a proposal from the Los Pueblos Más Bonitos platform celebrating its tenth anniversary. This initiative, featuring a renowned artist, seeks to reactivate the municipality's tourism and economic fabric after the storm damage.
