Grazalema, a picturesque town in Cádiz certified as 'Most Beautiful in Spain', is preparing to celebrate its Carmen Festivities from Friday, July 17, to Monday, July 20. These celebrations, of profound tradition and veneration, will fill the town's streets.
Attendees can enjoy moments such as fireworks among the mountains, flamenco performances evoking the region's roots, and the emotional procession of the Virgen del Carmen through the town's streets. The highlight will be the Rope Bull Monday, one of the oldest and most anticipated bull runs in the Sierra de Cádiz.
The program kicks off on Thursday, July 16, with the opening of the Church of San José for visits and a ringing of bells followed by prayer before the Virgen's throne. On Friday, July 17, Calle Nueva will host the 42nd Grazalema Flamenco Night with performances by artists such as Curro Lucena and Manuel Moneo "El Barullo", as well as the opening of the Verbena El Tajo with music.
Saturday, July 18, will feature the opening of the Municipal Booth of Los Asomaderos, performances by the Trío Virtual, and a concert in honor of Ntra. Sra. del Carmen by the Grazalema Musical Group. The night will conclude with fireworks and performances by the Natural Orquesta y Grupo Alexia.
On Sunday, July 19, the Solemn Eucharistic Service will be held, followed by the devout Procession of the Virgen del Carmen accompanied by the Grazalema Musical Group. The day will continue with performances at the Municipal Booth and the Verbena El Tajo.
Monday, July 20, will be dedicated to the traditional Rope Bull Monday, with bull runs and cattle releases throughout the day. The day will also include the Children's Bueyada (ox run) and performances by groups such as Aguardiente and Los Máquinas del Tiempo.
The cattle running on Rope Bull Monday come from the ranches of Casa de los Toreros, Toros de El Torero, and Gavira.
