Videos circulating on social media show the moment several men violently clashed in the street, throwing punches, wielding knives, and smashing bottles in broad daylight. Footage recorded by residents from nearby buildings captured the escalation of violence that began outside a bar.
Witnesses reported that the group, allegedly after leaving a nearby establishment, initiated a confrontation that devolved into mutual assaults with bladed weapons and the throwing of blunt objects. The sounds of breaking glass and residents' shouts were heard throughout the altercation.
“"We have asked for police many times. They brought the GAR unit for a few days for photos and then nothing afterwards."
The National Police and the reaction unit GAR of the Local Police were deployed to the scene following multiple emergency calls. However, by the time officers arrived, the individuals involved had already dispersed, and no arrests were made. This incident has reignited concerns about security in El Cerezo, an area that has experienced increased tensions related to crime and anti-social behavior in recent months.
In response to growing insecurity, residents organized an unauthorized protest and have initiated citizen patrols, expressing their distrust in police protection. Residents have also criticized the Seville City Council and the authorities of the Macarena district for their lack of contact and support following the latest violent events.
This incident occurs months after another neighborhood uprising in El Cerezo that led to the creation of citizen patrols, linked to tensions over illegal parking. Despite previous police operations in troubled neighborhoods, many residents fear the area is spiraling out of control.
