The Plenary of the Academy, presided over by Antonio Pascual, approved the appointment of the new academicians on June 12th, recognizing their significant merits in the institution's fields of interest. The decision followed the approval of the budgets and the activity plan for the second half of the year.
Rocío Medina, a businesswoman from Seville and executive president of Grupo Medina, a benchmark in Andalusia's agri-food sector, brings over 30 years of experience. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Banco de Alimentos de Sevilla Foundation and director of AMMDE. She received the Medal of Seville for economic and business impulse in 2026.
José Manuel Domínguez, a professor of Applied Economics at the University of Málaga and president of the Unicaja Banking Foundation, leads the financial education project Edufinet. He has been awarded the Gold Medal of the College of Economists of Málaga and the Medal of Honor of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Telmo.
José Rodríguez de la Borbolla, a Doctor of Law and titular professor at the University of Seville, has an extensive political career. He has held positions such as Minister of Governance, Vice-President, and President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, as well as being a senator and permanent counselor of the Consultative Council of Andalusia.
The Academy brings together personalities from the business, scientific, cultural, university, and media sectors, being the first with territorial scope throughout the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. Its objectives include the study, research, promotion, application, and dissemination of social, economic, business, and environmental sciences.
Among its distinguished members are figures such as Antonio Pascual, Santiago Herrero, Braulio Medel, Julio Iglesias de Ussel y Ordís, Miguel Rodríguez-Piñero, Guillermo Jiménez, and Amparo Moraleda Martínez, who have held important positions in academic, political, and business institutions.
Additionally, José Luis Manzanares, José Luis Sánchez Domínguez, Pilar Aranda, Javier González de Lara, Antonio Vázquez Romero, José Luis García-Palacios, María Concepción Yoldi, José Joly, and Andrés González Carmona are part of the Academy, all with distinguished careers in their respective fields.
