While many residents of Huelva take advantage of the holiday to rest or leave the city, others choose to stay and may need access to commercial services. For this reason, some chains have decided to keep their doors open, albeit with special hours, while others will remain closed.
Regarding large department stores, Hipercor and El Corte Inglés in the capital of Huelva will remain closed throughout Friday, although they plan to open on Sunday with reduced hours.
The Mercadona supermarket chain, following its usual policy, will close most of its establishments in Huelva this May 1st. Consumers wishing to shop on this date will need to look for alternatives in other chains.
For Carrefour, the situation is varied. Some of its supermarkets in the province of Huelva will open, while others will not. In the capital, the Carrefour Market stores in Plaza de los Litris and Plaza de las Monjas will be closed. However, the Carrefour Express stores on Palomeque Avenue, Roque Barcia, Paseo de la Independencia, Cala Street, Avenida de Alemania, and Plaza del Punto will be open. The Carrefour on Ronda Exterior, next to the Holea Shopping Center, will also be closed.
Chains such as Dia, Lidl, and Aldi will also operate with variable hours. Customers are advised to check the store locators on their respective websites to verify the specific opening hours of each establishment in Huelva.
