The Fiscal Ethics Commission, which operates independently from the State Attorney General's Office, will be responsible for promoting the dissemination of fiscal ethical principles and issuing opinions on specific inquiries. The State Attorney General's Office will ensure the necessary resources for its operation.
Among the commission's duties is the issuance of written opinions on consultations from prosecutors' boards, professional associations of prosecutors, or any active prosecutor. These opinions will reflect the position of the commission members on the matter consulted.
Furthermore, the commission will contribute to the development of the functions assigned to the State Attorney General's Office in coordination with other ethics commissions and, exceptionally, will prepare reports on matters of general interest related to the ethical conduct expected of prosecutors.
It is important to note that the commission's work will not interfere with the exercise of disciplinary authority or the determination of civil or criminal liability of prosecutors. Its actions lack mandatory legal force and binding effects.
