The Secretary General of PSOE Seville and President of the Provincial Council, Javier Fernández, has emphatically stated that his party "must vote against" in the Andalusian Parliament. This position is based on the PSOE presenting itself as the "alternative" to the "absolutely different" projects they have with the PP.
Fernández has called to "close the debate" on a potential socialist abstention, thus responding to reflections from other leaders like the mayor of Chiclana de la Frontera, who had advocated for a "conditioned" abstention. The Seville socialist leader warns that maintaining these doubts creates "confusion" and "dysfunctions" within the party.
The main argument put forward is the difference in projects between the two parties, highlighting that the PSOE builds public services while the PP, according to Fernández, is "destroying" them. This antithesis, he claims, justifies the refusal to facilitate Juanma Moreno's continuation in office.
In the presence of the Secretary General of the Andalusian PSOE, María Jesús Montero, Fernández reaffirmed his conviction in the correct line of the party leadership and indicated that the debate on abstention is "intentional" by some sectors to generate "confusion".
Finally, he urged the acting Andalusian president to "sit down and explain directly to the citizens" any agreement he is closing with Vox, mentioning demands such as "national priority," referring to gender-based violence as "intrafamiliar violence," "restricting immigration," or eliminating subsidies to unions and democratic memory policies.
On another matter, when questioned about the possibility of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, advancing municipal elections to coincide with the general elections in 2027, Fernández stated he had "cause for knowledge" and affirmed that he "will not make" both elections coincide, calling for "calm and tranquility" for the mayors.
