The Andalusian capital is preparing to host a top-tier sporting event with the celebration of the I Liga Futura Moeve. This pioneering competition, driven by Liga F and Moeve, aims to foster the growth of women's football from its foundations. For three days, Seville will become the meeting point for the country's best youth academies.
The tournament will bring together twelve teams from Liga F clubs at the Sevilla FC's Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios. The initiative, officially presented in Madrid, was attended by prominent figures such as Liga F president Beatriz Álvarez; Moeve CEO Maarten Wetselaar; and the president of the Higher Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes.
This championship represents a significant step forward in the development strategy of women's sports, aiming to create role models from an early age. The competition will feature highly promising players in the U-12 category, offering a platform for visibility and training for future elite stars.
“"This project is born to empower the female players who will shape the future of Spanish women's football."
The Liga Futura Moeve is the first U-12 women's tournament jointly organized by Liga F and its main sponsor, an alliance that promotes values such as equality, diversity, inclusion, and teamwork.
The twelve participating teams will be divided into three groups of four. Group A will consist of Deportivo Abanca, FC Badalona Women, Madrid CFF, and Atlético de Madrid. Group B will feature Costa Adeje Tenerife, Levante UD, FC Barcelona, and Sevilla FC. Group C will be composed of Athletic Club, RCD Espanyol, DUX Logroño, and Real Sociedad.
The competition will unfold with group stage matches on the first day, followed by knockout rounds until the first champion is crowned. Qualification for the quarterfinals will include group winners, runners-up, and the two best third-placed teams, ensuring excitement until the end of the initial phase.
Beyond the sport, the tournament has a strong educational and social purpose. The president of the Higher Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, highlighted the importance of such initiatives for the future of women's sports and the creation of role models. Maarten Wetselaar, in turn, emphasized football's role as a tool for connection and breaking down barriers.
This event underscores the growing visibility of women's football at a pivotal moment in its history, inspiring new generations of girls. With Seville as the host city, the Liga Futura Moeve aims to become a national benchmark for discovering future stars of the sport.
