The municipal leader has urged LaLiga to consult with local administrations before setting the schedules for sporting events. He believes that these decisions cannot be made unilaterally, without evaluating the organizational consequences they entail for host cities.
The complaint arises from the match between Real Betis Balompié and Real Madrid, scheduled for Friday, April 24, at 9:00 PM at the La Cartuja Stadium. This date coincides with the Feria de Abril weekend, posing a considerable challenge for municipal services, which must simultaneously manage both massive events.
“"LaLiga cannot make a unilateral decision, or only counting on the teams and without consulting the city councils, because what is going to happen tomorrow may happen."
The mayor has preemptively apologized to fans traveling to the stadium, acknowledging the limitations of municipal resources to handle two such large-scale events. He explained that the shuttle service for the fair is a priority and cannot be altered, although service to the stadium will be guaranteed.
In contrast to his criticism of LaLiga, the mayor has expressed his gratitude to the Spanish Football Federation for having changed the date of the Copa del Rey final. This decision avoided another conflicting coincidence with the fair celebrations, demonstrating a consideration that the city council positively values.
