The vocational training educational offering in the province of Seville will be expanded in the upcoming 2026/27 academic year with the introduction of 15 new titles. These training cycles, covering basic, intermediate, and higher levels, will primarily focus on three fundamental economic sectors for the province: hospitality, construction, and social services. Additionally, two specialization courses will be added to enhance training and improve the employability of young people.
This increase in FP offerings responds to the growing interest among young people in these studies, considered a direct pathway to the job market. The government agreement between PP and Vox in the Regional Government of Andalusia includes the public funding of FP programs in private centers to meet this demand, which has become a higher academic priority for many families than Bachillerato (high school).
The Ministry of Education has published the new qualifications in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA). In basic level FP, four new programs will be incorporated: Agrojardinería y Composiciones Florales (Agri-gardening and Floral Arrangements) and Servicios Administrativos (Administrative Services) in the capital, along with Cocina y Restauración (Kitchen and Restoration) and Servicios Administrativos in other municipalities.
The five new intermediate level titles include Instalaciones de producción de calor (Heat Production Installations), Planta Química (Chemical Plant), Cocina y Gastronomía (Kitchen and Gastronomy), Construcción (Construction), and Emergencias y Protección Civil (Emergencies and Civil Protection). At the higher level, five more cycles are added: Integración Social (Social Integration), Documentación y Administración Sanitaria (Health Documentation and Administration), Mantenimiento Aeromecánico de Aviones con Motor de Turbina (Turbine Engine Aircraft Aeromechanical Maintenance), Acondicionamiento Físico (Physical Conditioning), and Coordinación de Emergencias y Protección Civil (Emergency and Civil Protection Coordination).
The virtual offering for adults includes the Educación y Control Ambiental (Environmental Education and Control) cycle. The two specialization courses, equivalent to university master's degrees, will be Robótica Colaborativa (Collaborative Robotics - higher level) and Panadería y Bollería Artesanales (Artisanal Bakery and Pastry - intermediate level).
Regarding program discontinuations, some cycles will no longer be offered, such as the intermediate specialization course in Instalación y Mantenimiento de Sistemas Conectados a Internet (Installation and Maintenance of Internet-Connected Systems). Other basic level cycles, like Agrojardinería y Composiciones Florales and Servicios Administrativos, will transition from a specific modality for Special Education to conventional teaching, a change that has sparked debate among families.
The Ministry of Education has justified these decisions based on low employment rates, high dropout rates, and a significant number of repeat students. They assure that students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) will be accommodated in the conventional modality with specialized staff.
The update of the FP offering is aligned with the productive environment of the institutes and municipalities to facilitate immediate job placement. FP is a priority area in the Andalusian government's agreement. For the upcoming year, only the Basic FP in Actividades Domésticas y Limpieza de Edificios (Domestic Activities and Building Cleaning) at the Colegio Claret has been added to the public offering. Twenty-seven applications from private centers to include 15 intermediate and 12 higher level degrees were rejected, citing the principle of economy and efficiency in public resource use.
