The municipal service for graffiti removal on facades and public spaces in Seville has operated in approximately 27,000 streets and squares, with around 7,000 cleaning jobs completed to date. Mayor José Luis Sanz highlighted the objective of maintaining a "cleaner and more cared-for" urban landscape for both residents and visitors.
The district with the highest incidence of graffiti is the Casco Antiguo (Old Town), followed by Macarena, Norte, Sur, and Triana. At the opposite end are Los Remedios, Nervión, Bellavista-La Palmera, Cerro-Amate, San Pablo-Santa Justa, and Este-Alcosa-Torreblanca.
The City Council considers these actions crucial for urban aesthetics, as graffiti detracts from the appearance of walls, buildings, streets, and squares. Specialized personnel use techniques and products that remove graffiti without damaging surfaces, also applying preventive protection treatments.
The service has an initial budget of 2.6 million euros, extendable for another two years. It involves 27 workers, distributed across ten mobile teams, 18 of whom have functional diversity. They are equipped with ten electric vans featuring autonomous hydro-cleaning systems and two inspection vehicles, designed to minimize noise.
An IT application is used to manage citizen notices and incidents, and operations are scheduled to minimize disruption. The products used are environmentally friendly. Graffiti removal on private properties requires owner consent and is coordinated with Lipasam.
