The city of Seville has inaugurated the first phase of the 'Children's City' in Prado de San Sebastián, a new themed playground that is part of the municipal strategy to expand and improve the network of play areas.

The Seville City Council has completed the first phase of the Children's City, located in Prado de San Sebastián. This project is part of a municipal plan to increase the city's playground network, with a total investment exceeding 8.6 million euros.
During the current term, 38 new play areas will be added, representing an increase of over 10% in the existing network, bringing the total from 364 to 402 playgrounds. The new area in Prado de San Sebastián required an investment of 921,196.11 euros and covers 1,164 square meters.
Mayor José Luis Sanz highlighted the importance of balanced and safe planning for children's spaces, aiming to improve distribution across neighborhoods and meet the needs of Sevillian families. In total, over 3.64 million euros have been allocated to completed parks and transversal improvements, including the renovation of safety flooring and the installation of shade.
The Children's City project is inspired by Seville's festive identity, with elements reminiscent of the historic Feria de Abril pasarela (April Fair catwalk) and the Feria and Semana Santa (Holy Week) marquees. The central structure, of large format, offers elevated play, ground-level play, accessible routes, and areas for different ages, with natural shade provided by 16 hibiscus trees.
This initiative is the first of several planned phases to transform the children's area of Prado de San Sebastián. Seville's overall Parks and Gardens strategy totals 25.9 million euros, including playground expansion, green space renovation, irrigation improvements, and the planting of thousands of trees and shade structures.
