This intervention took place in the section connecting Glorieta Olímpica with Glorieta de los Ferroviarios. In the coming weeks, the project will be finalized with the addition of new shrub species, such as strelitzia and chamaerops, aiming not only to beautify the area but also to ensure its long-term maintenance.
A key component of this project is the implementation of a sectorized drip irrigation network, designed to adapt to the new tree layout and future plant beds. This advanced system will allow for more efficient water consumption, minimizing losses and creating optimal conditions for vegetation growth.
Additionally, the median's mulch, which showed significant deterioration, will be renewed. The old covering will be replaced with new materials combining soft and hard pavements, decorative aggregate, and permeable sheets. These elements will help retain soil moisture and prevent weed growth. New topsoil will also be incorporated to enrich the substrate.
These efforts are part of ongoing similar initiatives in other major city arteries, such as Torneo and Concejal Alberto Jiménez-Becerril avenues. They are included in the municipal plan for median strip improvements, which has a total investment exceeding 1.8 million euros.
Concurrently, this intervention is part of the planting campaign scheduled for the North District between 2025 and 2026. This campaign plans to incorporate over 700 trees in various areas, including Parque Ciudad de la Imagen, Parque San Jerónimo, and Parque Miraflores II.
