The governing team of the San Fernando City Council announced this Friday the suspension of all events, institutional activities, and programs organized by the Council during this weekend. This measure is taken as a sign of respect and mourning for the victims of the devastating fire that took place in Los Gallardos, Almería.
The decision aims to show grief and solidarity with those affected, their families, and loved ones, and comes in light of the possible declaration of official mourning by the competent administration. The statement underscores the municipal corporation's deep sorrow over the tragedy.
As an additional gesture of mourning, respect, and solidarity, the City Council has called upon the public for a minute of silence to be held next Monday, July 13, at 10:30 AM, in the Consistory's atrium. This call is subject to any potential directives that the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) may issue to local councils.
The municipal institution has extended its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to all citizens of Almería. Furthermore, it has expressed its recognition and support for the work carried out by emergency services and law enforcement agencies during this difficult situation.
