The mayor of San Fernando, Patricia Cavada, highlighted the initiative as an important step towards improving mobility in the Bay. "We want citizens to be able to access Camposoto comfortably, safely, and sustainably, reducing traffic pressure and encouraging the use of public transport," she stated.
Cavada emphasized that the free urban transport represents a "very significant change" in mobility habits, with an "unprecedented" increase in user numbers. According to the mayor, this measure confirms the success of facilitating access, making public transport more accessible, and moving towards a more sustainable city.
“"Every person who chooses the bus instead of a private vehicle contributes to a city with less traffic, fewer polluting emissions, and a better quality of life for everyone."
The mayor noted that an increasing number of people are using urban transport for various purposes, consolidating the bus as a real alternative to private vehicles. This increase, she warns, generates environmental benefits by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and easing urban congestion.
The expansion of the free bus service to Camposoto coincides with the progressive renovation of bus shelters and stops throughout the city, an initiative by the San Fernando City Council aimed at modernizing the network and improving accessibility and user comfort.
