Following a neighborhood protest regarding insecurity and dirt, Amat committed to finding solutions. The City Council has requested authorization from the central government to hire 20 new local police officers to form this specialized unit.
The mayor recalled that citizen security is the responsibility of the central government and requested the collaboration of the State Security Forces and Corps, although the City Council must also be involved.
Regarding the illegal market in Las 200 Viviendas, which gathers between 500 and 1,000 stalls, Amat noted that its control requires cooperation between the Guardia Civil and the Local Police, describing the task as "not easy".
The mayor indicated that the market was dismantled for months with the presence of the Guardia Civil, and the City Council cleaned the area, but a lack of continuity allowed its reinstallation. He assured that the Consistory will do everything possible to prevent the "illogical, improper, and unlicensed market" from being set up there again.
