The incident originated on Tuesday around 8:00 PM when a medium-voltage cable from Endesa fell onto Adif's overhead lines as it passed through La Rinconada (Seville). The causes of the event are still unknown.
This incident caused significant damage to the electrical network and sparked a fire on the tracks, which required preventive intervention by a fire brigade team to extinguish.
As a direct consequence of the breakdown, Adif was compelled to halt rail traffic between Sevilla-Santa Justa and Guadajoz. This interruption broadly affected high-speed services to Andalusia as well as the commuter rail network.
Following intensive work carried out overnight by technicians from Endesa and Adif, who removed the cabling and repaired the damage under strict safety measures, the infrastructure has returned to normal. This has allowed for the complete restoration of rail services on all routes.
