Poet Javier Gilabert returns to his native city, Granada, to present his latest poetic work, 'El magisterio de los árboles'. The event will take place this Thursday, May 28, at 7:30 PM in the Val del Omar hall of the Biblioteca de Andalucía.
This publication earned the author the prestigious XXXI Rafael de Cózar Award for Hispanic Letters, organized by the University of Seville. The presentation marks a significant reunion, as Gilabert returns to his city to unveil a solo book after three years, choosing the same venue where he previously presented his two previous solo poetry collections: 'En los estantes' (2019) and 'Todavía el asombro' (2023).
For this occasion, the writer will be joined by poets Fernando Jaén, with whom Gilabert previously collaborated on the book 'Bajo el signo del cazador', and Alejandro Pedregosa.
The book of the "day after".
'El magisterio de los árboles' addresses grief following the loss of a father, evolving from lament towards contemplation and redemption. The poetry collection invites patience, listening, and resilience, drawing inspiration from nature and the cultivation of bonsai trees, a practice of the author himself. In a fast-paced world, the work offers a shared space of solace against the pain of absence, advocating for the organic rhythm of nature and the healing power of patience.
Javier Gilabert (Granada, 1973), a teacher by profession and an active figure in cultural outreach in the province, adds this award to previous recognitions such as the XV Blas de Otero-Ángela Figuera Award and the recent Paulino Herrera and Ángel García López awards.
