Negotiations between the People's Party and Vox to form a government in Andalusia are progressing, aiming to finalize a pact that will allow the investiture of Juanma Moreno. Following the electoral results, which did not grant an absolute majority to the PP, forming a stable government requires Vox's support, as they are the only party with whom an agreement is possible given the left's refusal to facilitate the investiture of the election winner.
Although direct contacts between Juanma Moreno and the leader of Vox in Andalusia, Manuel Gavira, have not been confirmed, public statements from both suggest a favorable understanding. Moreno has emphasized "common sense" to avoid blockages, while Gavira has urged Moreno to specify proposals, stating that "if we don't talk, it's impossible to reach any agreement."
The focus of the negotiation centers on areas such as social aid and immigration policy. Vox seeks a review of subsidies to entities and associations, and demands strict control over illegal immigration and unaccompanied minors, based on previous agreements signed with the PP in other regions like Aragon and Extremadura.
The PP, for its part, defends its autonomy in management and considers its economic and fiscal policies, which it attributes to its electoral growth, to be "untouchable." However, it remains open to studying proposals in areas such as Equality and Social Welfare, where the most intense negotiations are expected, as well as in the allocation of positions in parliamentary commissions.
Precedents of agreements between PP and Vox in other autonomous communities, such as the one signed in January 2019 in Andalusia that enabled Moreno's first investiture, as well as recent pacts in Aragon and Extremadura, set the roadmap for the talks. Topics such as the fight against healthcare tourism, the reduction of funds for international cooperation, and support for hunting and traditions were also present in previous agreements.
