A total of 2,247 students from Cádiz are starting the extraordinary University Entrance Exam (PAU) this Tuesday, with the assessments running until July 2nd.

The extraordinary university entrance exams have begun today for 2,247 students in Cádiz. These assessments will continue until next Thursday, July 2nd, and are part of a process involving 15,665 students across all of Andalusia.
According to information from the Junta de Andalucía, the number of applicants has increased by 14.47% compared to the previous year. Of the total enrolled, 63.01% are women and 36.99% are men. Out of the 15,665 students, 10,840 had already taken the ordinary exam; of these, 3,395 are retaking it, and 7,445 are doing so to improve their scores.
The province of Seville contributes the most students with 4,490, followed by Málaga (2,517), Granada (2,319), and Cádiz (2,247). Next are Córdoba (1,353), Almería (1,022), Huelva (957), and Jaén (760).
The exam model maintains the competency-based approach and common correction criteria for all autonomous communities, with an increase in the range of such questions. Spelling, grammar, and lexical correctness will be evaluated, along with spelling, accents, and punctuation, to assess students' expressive abilities.
Each exam will last 90 minutes, with a minimum 30-minute break between tests. Assessments will start at 8:30 AM each day, and students must be present at their designated center by 8:00 AM.
The exams are divided into two phases: Access and Admission. The Access Phase, mandatory for university entry, includes Spanish Language and Literature II, a Foreign Language, and History of Spain or Philosophy, plus a modality subject. The maximum score is ten points, which is weighted with the average high school transcript grade (40% PAU, 60% transcript).
The Admission Phase, voluntary for score improvement, allows students to take up to four subjects, with the two most favorable for the chosen degree programs being counted. The most in-demand subjects in this extraordinary call include Applied Mathematics to Social Sciences II, Spanish Language and Literature II, and English.
Due to potential schedule overlaps, an alternative calendar has been established to resolve incompatibilities. Scores will be published on July 9th, with the university application period opening from July 9th to 14th. The first round of place allocations will occur on July 24th.
