What began as an ambitious idea has materialized into one of the most inspiring stories in ultra-endurance sports. An athlete, 48 years old and originally from Estepona, has managed to complete the four most demanding challenges linked to the Legion in just 11 months, finishing his journey in La Africana de Melilla.
This feat is not just a sporting achievement, but the result of two and a half years of preparation, marked by perseverance and the firm conviction that limits can be redefined. The athlete competes with a 92% disability, a consequence of a cervical fracture that left him quadriplegic. His physical conditions include partial mobility in biceps and shoulders, lack of trunk balance, muscle spasms, and the inability to thermoregulate his body temperature, which adds a constant risk to each event.
Each participation has required a meticulous strategy, with continuous medical monitoring, exhaustive hydration and temperature control, permanent technical assistance, and a human team prepared for any eventuality. The epic journey began in May 2025 with the 101 Kilometers of Ronda, where he became the first quadriplegic athlete with his level of disability to complete the race, setting a precedent.
“"Disability does not imply incapacity, and individual effort can become a useful tool for others."
The challenge has been intrinsically linked to solidarity causes. Through the campaign 'My effort, your struggle,' 1,500 euros were raised for AOPA Autismo Ronda. Subsequently, in La Desértica in Almería, an additional 2,000 euros were raised for URA CLAN, an inclusive rugby project. The third stage was La Cuna de la Legión in Ceuta in March 2026, a return full of meaning to the city where he began his life as a legionnaire in 1996. Finally, La Africana de Melilla marked the close of this unprecedented feat, transforming a utopia into a reality.
In total, over 5,500 euros have been raised for various solidarity causes, including the Fundación Tercio de Extranjeros. The athlete has highlighted the fundamental support from the Legion, his team, his family, sponsors, the Estepona City Council, and the public, emphasizing that great achievements are the result of a collective effort.
